May Cottage can be found a short distance from the centre of Stow-on-the-Wold on Oddington Road. See the interactive map further down this page.
Stow-on-the-Wold is a small, historic market town - the epitome of the Cotswold kind, with interesting shops, first class restaurants, brasseries, small coffee shops and old pubs - including the oldest Inn in England - clustered around the ancient market square with its stocks and many fascinating old buildings and alleyways.
Although it has a large modern supermarket, it also has excellent delicatessens, butcher, baker and organic shops. Best known for its many antique shops and art galleries, there are many lovely gift shops. All are within 2-4 minutes of May Cottage.
Stow is very well connected, being 80 mins by train to London Paddington from Kingham Station which is only 5 miles away, less than an hour from Birmingham and 90 mins from London Heathrow Airport by car. It has a good range of public transport and is only 20 mins by car from Shakespeare’s Stratford, 25 mins from the elegant Regency Spa town of Cheltenham, 30mins from Oxford and 60 mins from Bristol, Bath and Wales. Warwick castle and Blenheim palace, together with numerous National Trust properties are within easy reach. Closer to hand, Stow is a few minutes’ drive from the most famous Cotswold villages such as the Slaughters, the Swells, Bourton-on-the-Water and the famous Tuesday market at Moreton-in-Marsh.
